Car, Mailbox Damaged By Fireworks In New Lenox: Cops

A vehicle was reported stolen from a driveway on Sheridan Court overnight.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DUI

Rose C. Johnson, 26 of Joliet was stopped at Cedar Road and Haven Avenue at 12:02 a.m. on July 1 and charged with a DUI. An officer was dispatched to a complaint of reckless driving. The officer located the vehicle and observed the driver commit a traffic violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the driver, Johnson, was under the influence of alcohol. The officer also learned that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding Will County Warrant for her arrest.

Joshua F. Gessing, 20 of Crest Hill was stopped at Lincoln Highway and Pine Street at 3:05 a.m. on July 2 and charged with a DUI, speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol. An officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the driver, Gessing, was under the influence of alcohol.

Bryan J. Kupres, 38, of the 800 block of Laurel Bay was stopped a Route 30 and Roberts Road at 3:44 a.m. on July 9 and charged with speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and DUI. An officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the driver, Kupres, was under the influence of alcohol.

Stolen Motor Vehicle

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Sheridan Court at 6:12 a.m. on July 1 in reference to a complaint of a theft of motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone stole their vehicle overnight while it was parked in their driveway. The vehicle was later recovered in Chicago.

Retail Theft

An officer was dispatched to the Speedway Gas Station at 301 E. Lincoln Highway at 2:15 p.m. on July 2 in reference to a complaint of retail theft. The complainant advised that someone loaded approximately 20 bags of mulch into their truck and left without paying for the items.

Nicole R. Zyla, 20 of Mokena was charged with retail theft a 4:31 p.m. on July 3 at Walmart. An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to retail theft complaint. The officer learned that Zyla stole cosmetics, totaling $44, from the store.

An officer was dispatched to Lowes at 2480 E. Lincoln Highway at 4:30 p.m. on July 7 in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that two unknown subjects stole power tools prior to exiting the store.

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Joliet Highway at 12:20 p.m. on July 4 in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that someone damaged their mailbox with fireworks.

An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of Jackson Branch Drive at 7:04 a.m. on July 7 in reference to a criminal damage to vehicle report. The complainant advised that someone damaged their vehicle by throwing objects at it.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Pine Street Highway in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to vehicle at 1:48 p.m. on July 4. The complainant advised that their vehicle was damaged by fireworks while parked in their driveway.

Battery

Ronald T. Hathaway, 56, of the 2500 block of Molly Court was charged with battery at 10:06 p.m. on July 4 at Vine Street and Manor Drive. An officer was dispatched to the area in reference to a fight complaint. The officer learned that following a traffic accident an altercation ensued in which Hathaway punched the victim several times.
