Coming off a big weekend at the Sandburg Invitational winning the singles and doubles titles, the Providence lady Celtics beat Marian Catholic 3-2 yesterday on the Celtics' home courts.
Seniors Lizzie Eggen and Mary-Beth Galick won the deciding match at second doubles 6-1, 6-4. Seniors Maggie and Kelly Ruane (1st doubles) won easily, 6-0, 6-0; and junior Maggie Havlin and senior Angela Jensen (3rd doubles) breezed to a 6-3, 6-1 win. The team victory improves Providence's record to 16-6 overall and 3-3 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.
The team will travel to Plainfield Central for a match on Wednesday, then north to Carmel Catholic on Thursday to take on one of the best team's in their conference.
