The 2011 Chicago Marathon ended with triumph and tragedy, and many New Lenox residents were in the middle of all the action.

According to the Huffington Post, Kenya's Moses Mosop set a Chicago Marathon record, finishing the course in 2 hours, 5 minutes, 37 seconds and breaking Sammy Wanjiru's course mark by 4 seconds.

But just 500 feet from the finish line, North Carolina firefighter William Caviness collapsed and died later that day in the hospital. He was running to raise money to help burn victims.
