New Lenox Walmart Busts Thief From Joliet: Blotter

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your look at criminal activity investigated last week at the New Lenox Police Department.

JUNE 12

The officer was on patrol and conducted a random registration check at Lincoln Highway and Veterans Parkway. The officer learned that the registration for the vehicle was expired and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer made contact with the driver, Sheila Jones, 57, of 16600 block of Borrio, Crest Hill, and learned Jones had a suspended driver’s license. The officer further learned that Jones had two outstanding arrest warrants for Failure to Appear on previous Driving While License Suspended charges. Jones was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility after failing to post bond.

JUNE 13

The officer was dispatched to Target in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that the offender, Colleen Schroeder, 54, of the 1000 block of James Pass, New Lenox, had stolen $470 worth of clothing from the store. The stolen merchandise was recovered. Schroeder posted bond and was released.

JUNE 14

The officer was dispatched to a fraud report in the 100 block of Bent Tree Lane. The complainant advised that they were online when they were contacted by a company advising them that their virus and firewall protection had expired. The offender convinced the victim to send $1,000 via scanned check for repairs and updates. The victim sent the check before realizing they were scammed.

JUNE 14

The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that the offender, Jessica Marsh, 38, of the 800 block of Hague, in Joliet, stole alcohol from the store. The stolen liquor, totaling $298. was recovered. Marsh was arrested and transported to the NLPD. Marsh had prior convictions for retail theft and was subsequently charged with a felony. Marsh was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

JUNE 14

The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that the offender stole an XBOX One video game system valued at $500 from the store.

JUNE 15

The officer was dispatched to Jewel in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that the offender stole an undetermined amount of groceries from the store before fleeing in a vehicle.
