Cooling Centers Available In New Lenox
The hottest day will most likely be Friday, when the high will be 100 degrees.
NEW LENOX, IL — Some of the hottest weather in seven years is expected over the next few days in New Lenox. Several towns are opening up cooling centers for residents who may be in need. According to the Will County Emergency Agency, there are two cooling centers in New Lenox. You should call before you go to ensure the site is operating as a cooling center.
The cooling centers are:
- New Lenox Police Department, 200 Veterans Parkway, by request only, 815-462-6100
- New Lenox Public Library, 120 Veterans Parkway, open during library hours, 815-485-2605

Dangerous heat and temperatures close to 100 degrees are expected starting Thursday and continuing through at least Saturday. The National Weather Service said the heat index, which is how hot it feels when humidity is taken into account, will climb up to 110 degrees for most of the area.
