Coronavirus Hospitalizations Down At Silver Cross: Hospital

As of Tuesday, there are 12 inpatients who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and one person under investigation.

NEW LENOX, IL — As the positivity rate increases up to 8.4 percent for region 7, which includes Will and Kankakee counties, hospitalizations due to coronavirus at one of the region's hospital have decreased.

Director Of Marketing and Community Relations Debra Robbins told that as of Tuesday, there are 12 inpatients who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and one person under investigation. None of the patients are on ventilators.

"At Silver Cross, COVID hospitalizations are down and have been declining over the past couple weeks," Robbins said, adding that the hospital has "plenty" of ICU beds, medical surgical beds and ventilators.

Over the past four weeks, the hospital has had one coronavirus-related death.

With the announcement of new restrictions concerning restaurants, bars and social gatherings, things remain par for the course at the hospital. Robbins said no new restrictions have been implemented due to the county's positivity rate.

"We would like to reiterate the importance of wearing face masks, practicing social distancing and washing your hands," she told Patch. "Please follow these rules for your safety and the safety of others."

Robbins said the hospital and doctors' offices remain safe places to seek care if you need it.

According to IDPH, the most recent data shows region 7 has had seven days of positivity increases and one day of hospital admission increases. The region has 32 percent of med/surg beds available and 31 percent of ICU beds available.
