Coronavirus Updates In New Lenox: Restaurants Offering Carry-Out

NEW LENOX, IL — With so many closures and cancellations due to the coronavirus, it can be difficult to know what's going on in town. Mayor Tim Baldermann and the village have shared information from different organizations on their closings or postponements.

Silver Cross Hospital Guidelines

The village said if you feel you have symptoms of the coronavirus, you should contact your primary health doctor. You should not come to the emergency room. Your doctor will determine if a test is needed. The village said the hospital can collect samples and submit for testing only with the approval of the Department of Public Health.
The hospital has suspended all non-essential public meetings and gatherings. Silver Cross has also implemented visiting guidelines including: no visitors under 18 and a limit of two visitors per room. For more information on hospital guidelines, visit the Silver Cross Hospital website.

Restaurants Close To Diners
Governor JB Pritzker has ordered all restaurants will be closed to diners, but can still offer delivery or carry-out services. You can find a list of New Lenox restaurants who are offering take-out or pick-up below. If you'd like to see a business added to the list, please email andrea.earnest@patch.com.

Village Considers Small Business Bridge Loan
Baldermann said he will present a Small Business Bridge Loan ordinance to the board. This would be for village of New Lenox business affected by the forced closures.
"This potential loan is not meant to prop up existing businesses that are struggling due to free market conditions," Baldermann said. "This is intended to help otherwise successful businesses that are being impacted by this crisis directly."
New Lenox Police Handle Non-Essential Calls Via Phone
The police department will handle non-essential calls for service via telephone. If you need to see a police officer in person, advise the dispatcher if you or anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, the village said. Senator Mike Hastings is also working with New Lenox first responders to make sure they have enough protective gear.
New Lenox Township Cancels Meetings
All meetings held at the township senior building have been canceled until further notice. The village said the township food pantry may be in need of volunteers or food items.
New Lenox Library Closed
The library has closed until April 6. The village said due dates for items have been extended until April 13. People are encouraged to keep their items until April 13.
New Lenox Park District Cancels Programs
The park district is also closed until April 6. All programs, including childcare, have been canceled, the village said.
The Will County Health Department has also established a coronavirus hotline for questions, available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 815-740-8977.
