Counterfeit $100 Bills Appear At New Lenox Jewel, Goodwill Stores
Fake money was among the various crimes investigated by New Lenox police over the past week.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's a glimpse at some of the criminal activity that has been taking place as of late in the village of New Lenox. The following information was assembled by the New Lenox Police Department covering the time frame of October 30 through November 6.
October 30
At 8:26 p.m., New Lenox responded to a retail theft at Walmart, 501 East Lincoln Highway. A customer stole $96 worth of merchandise and got away before police were summoned.

Halloween
Officers responded to the Target store at 2370 East Lincoln Highway regarding a theft that had already taken place. The victim claimed that their coat was stolen their car that was left unlocked in the parking lot of Target.

November 1
Around 1:30 p.m., a resident of the 700 block of Beech Lane called police to report that their Halloween decorations were stolen from their yard.
November 2
A vehicle was reported burglarized in the 2800 block of Ferro Drive. At 7:55 a.m., the victim told police that his car was parked in his driveway overnight, but nothing appeared stolen at the time of the police report.
Unrelated, police responded to the Walmart in reference to a retail theft. The thief made off with more than $700 worth of store merchandise and got away before police arrived.
Unrelated, New Lenox police fielded a call at 7:41 p.m. regarding deceptive practices at the Goodwill Store at 441 East Lincoln Highway. Officers were told that someone tried to make a purchase using a counterfeit $100 bill.
November 3
A case of fraud was reported at the Jewel store at 9:49 a.m. Someone had given a counterfeit $100 bill to a cashier.
November 4
Officers were called at 8:48 p.m. regarding a criminal trespass incident in the 1300 block of Grandview Drive. A man had apparently entered someone's house for reasons unclear. "The complainant advised the (person) to leave and he complied," the report shows.
November 5
A home in the 700 block of Lake Road was burglarized. The thieves stole their TVs and other electronics. The house had been left unlocked.
Unrelated, someone left their debit card at the Speedway Gas Station at 800 West Lincoln Highway. Their debit card was found by someone who used it to make unauthorized purchases at several locations.
November 6
Vehicles were reported damaged in the 2700 block of Kingsway Avenue and in the 2900 block. In one driveway in the 2900 block, the vandal busted the windows of two cars parked in their driveway. Around the same time, officers fielded a service complaint in the 2700 block, where a homeowner found a pumpkin smashed on their driveway and damage to one of their vehicles parked in their driveway.
