D122 Will Now Start Year With Remote Learning

The district will begin remote learning on Aug 31.

NEW LENOX, IL — After an emergency board meeting on Saturday, New Lenox District 122 will now start the school year with full-time remote learning.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Lori Motsch that the district is unable to adhere to new health guidelines which were released Aug. 12.

"To say we are disappointed with starting remotely, is a grave understatement," Motsch wrote to families. "The countless hours dedicated to creating an exceptional return to learn plan for our district was visible to me this week as I walked through buildings."

Motsch wrote that the district will be ready for students when they do return.

Many nearby districts which were planning to return to in-person learning have switched to remote in recent days, including Lemont District 113A, Mokena District 159 and Lockport Township High School.
