Senior tailback Brett Ditchman was the go-to guy Friday night, rushing for 271 yards and three touchdowns as Lincoln-Way Central beat Thornridge 41-20. With the victory, the Knights evened their record at 1-1. Ditchman carried the ball as many times (41) as the amount of points scored by Lincoln-Way Central.

The Providence girls volleyball team beat Lincoln-Way Central 25-22, 25-19 in the annual “Battle of New Lenox” on Aug. 29.
Football: Crete-Monee Turns Tables on L-W West
Last season, Lincoln-Way West’s football team traveled to Crete-Monee and came away with a 21-14 victory. On Friday, Crete-Monee avenged that loss in New Lenox and was decisive in doing so, clobbering the Warriors 35-0.

Girls Volleyball: L-W West Remains Unbeaten
The Lincoln-Way West girls volleyball team beat Plainfield East 25-21, 25-19 on Thursday night to improve to 2-0 on the young season. The Warriors trailed by as many as eight points early in Game 1 but rallied to victory, and the momentum carried over into Game 2.
Koziol Ruled Ineligible
Standout baseball player Ryan Koziol likely won’t play for Providence after all. Koziol transferred from Brother Rice to Providence, but the IHSA has declared him ineligible to play in the spring.

Steinbach Will Miss NFL Season
Providence graduate Eric Steinbach, who has been a fixture at left guard for the Cleveland Browns, will miss the upcoming NFL season after having surgery to repair a bulging disc in his back. Steinbach, a 1998 Providence graduate, helped the Celtics win 50 straight games and three consecutive state titles.
