Donations to Help Heart Attack Patients

The New Lenox Fire Protection District received a gift of 12 monitor/defibrillators from the New Lenox Fire Foundation.

NEW LENOX, IL - The New Lenox Fire Protection District received 12 monitor/defibrillators as a donation to help communication between emergency personnel when it comes to heart attack victims. The New Lenox Fire Foundation made the donation recently, according to a news release. The new technology allows a heart attack victim to be seen virtually by a doctor, eliminating anywhere from 10-30 minutes of wait time.

“When transporting a patient, paramedics contact hospitals to advise them of the signs, symptoms, and pre-hospital observations of the patient,” according to the release. “The 12-lead monitor/defibrillator can send a copy directly to the doctors at the hospital who will be able to identify the cardiac life threats, saving minutes and more lives.”

The devices cost more than $56,000, according to Tim Hartness, president of the New Lenox Fire Foundation.
