Drunken Mokena Driver Picks Fight At White Castle: Police Reports

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your look at some of the criminal activity that kept the New Lenox Police Department busy in recent days. The following information is from police reports.

AUG. 13

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Timber Place in reference to a Deceptive Practice complaint. The complainant advised they answered an ad on Facebook offering “to make quick money.” The complainant read the ad and agreed to put an advertisement sticker on their car for an agreed upon price. The company sent a fraudulent check to the complainant for more than the agreed upon price. The company gave instructions to the complainant to deposit the check and send the excess money back. The complainant learned that the check was fraudulent and that the offer was a scam.

AUG. 15

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Charleston Drive in reference to a motor vehicle burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked overnight. Taken was loose change and an iPod.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Central Road in reference to a motor vehicle burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked overnight. Nothing appeared to have been taken at the time of the report.

Police responded to a motor vehicle burglary from the 800 block of Hancock. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the street overnight. Taken was loose change and a garage door opener.

AUG. 16

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle speeding at Cedar Road and Illinois Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Roy Roberts, 54, of the 100 block of First Avenue, New Lenox. The officer learned that Roberts was driving under the influence of alcohol. Roberts was transported to the NLPD. Roberts posted bond and was released.

AUG. 17

  • The officer was dispatched to the Great Clips, 523 E. Lincoln Highway, for a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered the business while it was closed overnight and stole cash. There were no signs of forced entry to the business.
  • An officer was dispatched to the White Castle in the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway in reference to a reckless driver complaint. The witness advised that the vehicle struck several curbs, was riding on a flat tire and had pulled into the White Castle drive-thru. The officer arrived, located the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle, Gina Clay, 45. She lives in the 20100 block of Woodland Circle North, Mokena. While conducting an investigation the officer learned that Clay, while in line at the drive-thru, exited her vehicle and punched the female driver of the vehicle behind hers several times in the face. The officer learned that Clay was under the influence of alcohol. Clay was transported to the NLPD. Clay was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Jail logs show that she also goes by the alias of Gina Chavez.
  • The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft. The complainant advised that a man stole a television, valued at $400 from the store. The complainant observed the man alk the television past the last point of sale and into the vestibule area. The complainant approached the offender who abandoned the TV and fled in a vehicle. The TV was recovered.

AUG. 20

The officer was dispatched to Route 66 Food & Fuel in the 2500 block of North Cedar Road in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that a man stole two cases of beer from the store.
