Eternal and Living Guidance

12 Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.13And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.~ Hebrews 4:12-13

Today's society is so very different than society back in biblical times. We often feel that, since many things we have available to us today didn't exist back then, that the Bible can't possibly address how we are to view things now. However, the Bible is God's Word. He is unchanging, as is all that He has said from the beginning of time.

Reading through the Word of God, we often seek to justify things that we feel should change, as times have obviously changed. God's Word will always cut through our desire to justify our behaviors today - showing us that our desires are not always in line with God's will. We are responsible for what we do today, just as our ancestors were hundreds of years before us. The game may have changed up a bit, but God's rules remain the same.

When in doubt as to how to live our lives according to the will of God, always seek His guidance through His Word and through prayer. He will reveal the direction we must go so that we will stay on His path instead of running off in our own direction that may lead away from Him. After all, we will be held accountable for the decisions we make while here on earth, so let us seek guidance from the One we are to please while we are here, and it is by His measure we will be judged in the end.

 Prayer

God of the eternal ages,
Curb our selfish desires to do things our own way, which may detour us in the wrong direction for our lives. Let us always look to You for guidance through these constantly changing times so that we can clearly discern Your direction in our lives and stay on the path that leads to You and eternal life in Your kingdom. Amen.
