The Lincoln-Way West Poms will host a dance clinic on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 5-7 p.m. for kindergarten through 8th grade students.
Dance clinic participants will perform with the Varsity and Sophomore Poms at Community Night on Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at the West High School.
“We ask the parents to arrive 15 minutes early to register your child. We also recommend that parents return at 6:45 p.m. to receive additional information and see what their child has learned,” said Melissa Sweeney, West Varsity Poms coach.

Kindergarten through 5th grade participants will learn skills, a routine, and will play games. Participants in 5th through 8th grades will learn the skills necessary to try out for a school pom team and a routine.
The $30 fee includes a West Pom T-shirt, snack and the dance clinic.

Interested candidates should complete the application form before Aug. 5 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes. For the performance girls will wear their new T-shirt and black shorts or pants depending on the weather.
“This is an event that the high school girls really look forward to every year and the children always have a great time,” said Sweeney.

This is the third year for the dance clinic. Sweeney is the Varsity and Sophomore Pom Coach. She is a mathematics teacher at Lincoln-Way West. She also serves as a Dean, Mu Alpha Theta sponsor and the Senior Class sponsor.
