Ex-Husband Accused Of Stabbing Boyfriend With Pocket Knife

Police say a Mokena man forced his way inside his ex-wife's boyfriend's New Lenox home overnight while children were having a sleepover.

NEW LENOX, IL -- Authorities say a man from Mokena showed up at his ex-wife’s boyfriend’s home in the middle of the night while children were having a sleepover and stabbed the boyfriend with a pocket knife, causing him to be hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and a collapsed lung.

The violent attack took place around 1:30 a.m. on July 25 at the boyfriend’s home in New Lenox, according to a report from The Herald-News. Jeffrey M. Zamecnik, 48, of the 12000 block of West Josephine Drive in Mokena was arrested by Will County sheriff’s deputies the next day and charged with aggravated battery/great bodily harm and home invasion causing an injury, court records show.

The boyfriend told police just after the alleged attack that Zamecnik came to his home, knocked on the door and forced himself inside with a pocket knife, according to The Herald-News report. The knife was knocked free and the boyfriend attempted to detain Zamecnik until authorities arrived but was unable to because of the stab wounds, the report states.
