so I will comfort you;

Have you ever felt God all around you? Have you ever stopped to look for Him? Everyday senses that we feel may actually be God’s presence all around us.

Peering out the window this morning, I was struck by the thought that every time the breeze blows across my face, I may actually be having my face caressed by the hand of God, much like a mother will gently caress the face of her child. When the sun breaks through the cloudy day to warm me from the coolness of the day, this could actually be God enfolding me with the warm embrace of His love. When the rain drops fall upon me, this may either be God cleansing me from the dirtiness of society around me as a mother gently washes the face of her child with sticky hints of treats on their face or sharing tears of joy or sorrow that I may be feeling at the time.

God is not some far-off deity that awaits our moments of need to visit with Him. He is always here among us – sharing our every moment as a loving parent watches over a young toddler. His very presence shows us just how much He desires to be a part of our lives throughout our day – not just when we are in trouble and need His help.

Take some time to feel His presence with you today. When you feel that next little breeze across your cheek, imagine God’s loving hand caressing your face as He whispers quietly in your ear, “I love you.” Then feel your heart fill with the knowledge that He is always with you, wanting the very best for you, just as a loving parent wishes for their child.

Prayer

Dearest Heavenly Father,

Thank you for always letting us feel your presence with us if we just stop to sense it. Help us to always take time to see you with us in our everyday life – guiding us and showing us Your love in so many ways. Amen.
