Fire Damages New Lenox Business Units: Fire District

Firefighters found a fire in the overhang of the building, just outside of Fleckenstein's Bakery, early Thursday morning.

NEW LENOX, IL — A fire caused damage to a building in the 300 block of West Maple Street in New Lenox, the fire district said. The New Lenox Fire Protection District responded to a call of a possible fire at 2 a.m. Thursday.

A passerby noticed the fire and alerted a police office, who then called in the fire, the district said. When firefighters arrived, they found an active fire in the overhang of the building, just outside of Fleckenstein's Bakery. There was some damage to the building in the commercial area, including smoke and water damage in several of the units.

Firefighters were on scene for just over an hour, and the district said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
