New Lenox firefighters raised more than $7,000 over three Fridays at two intersections.

NEW LENOX, IL -- The New Lenox Fire Protection District broke a record in August with its "Fill the Boot" campaign to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. New Lenox firefighters raised $7,849.87 through fundraising efforts on three Fridays in August.

“It was a total team effort,” said Lt. Brian Applegate, co-chair of the NLFPD Fill the Boot committee. “Everyone that participated did a great job raising money for the drive. Every dollar and cent counts and car really add up to do great things.”

New Lenox residents and visitors donated the funds as firefighters collected donations at two intersections in town during the three week period.
