Free CERT Course Offered To New Lenox Residents

Registration is limited for a 20-hour course on disaster preparedness this fall.

NEW LENOX, IL - New Lenox residents will have the opportunity to sign up for a free Community Emergency Response Team basic course this fall.

The Village of New Lenox will host the 20-hour course beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 13 and ending with a graduation on Saturday, Oct. 28. Classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the New Lenox Village Hall.

The CERT program shows residents about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations, according to New Lenox Safe Community Coordinator Daniel Martin.
