Free Prostate Screenings Offered By Silver Cross Hospital and Advanced Urology Associates
Screenings will be held on Sept. 8 and 19 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox

About 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their life, according to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, about 6 in 10 prostate cancer cases are in men aged 65 or older. While a serious disease, if detected early prostate cancer is treatable for most men.
Silver Cross Hospital is partnering with Advanced Urology Associates to offer free prostate cancer screenings for men between the ages of 40 to 70 who are not currently under the care of a urologist or have been diagnosed with prostate disease or cancer.
Dr. Thai Nguyen will conduct free prostate screenings on Friday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Dr. Ryan Manecke on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. The screenings will include a digital rectal exam, in which a doctor feels the prostate gland through the rectal wall, and a blood test for the presence of a substance called prostate specific antigen (PSA). There is no fasting required, however, advanced registration is required online at www.silvercross.org.
