Gimme 5: L-W Central Grad Patterson Now Pitching for RiverHawks

Ex-Knight left-hander Kevin Patterson calls Rockford his home away from home, finds his niche working out the pen.

His role as a reliever might be different, but pitching in Rockford is nothing new for Rockford RiverHawks left-hander Kevin Patterson.

Patterson, who is originally from Manhattan and graduated from Lincoln-Way Central, played his college baseball at Rockford College, which also plays its home games in the same stadium as the RiverHawks.

Patterson, who turned 24 years old earlier this month, finished his college career with a 14-8 record with 133 strikeouts and a 4.89 ERA. Through June 26 this season, he had made six relief appearances and had a 3.52 ERA for the RiverHawks.
