Gimme 5: Lincoln-Way Central’s Yost is with the Most

Lincoln-Way co-op gymnast Tyler Yost is off to a strong start for three-time state runner-up team.

The Lincoln-Way co-op boys gymnastics team is heading toward another state appearance this spring.

Lincoln-Way won the Homewood-Flossmoor Classic Invitational on Friday, finishing well ahead of runner-up Mundelein, 150.4 to 136.375.

Possessing a lot of depth and talented gymnasts again this season, Lincoln-Way hopes to battle for a state title in May. The team has finished in second place the last three years.

One of the team’s top gymnasts is Tyler Yost, who won vault with a 9.35 and took third on floor with a 9.35 at H-F.

“He started as a freshman, which I sometimes forget,” Lincoln-Way coach Skip Adamson said. “It’s a four-year process of development for a lot of these boys.”

Adamson expects even better things from Yost, especially when he’s able to reduce his level of stress and transfer his practice regimen into competition.

“He still gets really nervous on almost everything he does,” Adamson said. “So we have a lot of polishing to do there, but he’s working on it and looking really fine in practice.”
