Gimme 5: Winans Looks to Assist in Warrior Turnaround

Lincoln-Way West senior Kalin Winans takes her job as Warriors' girls soccer playmaker seriously.

The Lincoln-Way West girls soccer team still is pursuing its first win after suffering setbacks to Homewood-Flossmoor, Plainfield East and Minooka.

The Warriors expect to secure that first win soon and many more. Last spring, in the program’s varsity debut, the Warriors won nine matches.

Senior Kalin Winans, an all-conference selection last season, has assisted on all three of Lincoln-Way West's goals. She missed the team’s opener against Homewood-Flossmoor due to an injury. She had five assists last year, so she could surpass last year’s total before April arrives. She added nine goals in 2010.
