New Lenox Girl Scout Cadette Troop #30 and Junior Troop #415 worked together on a service project to earn their Silver and Bronze award , the highest award for their level. The girls hosted a garage sale to raise funds for 'Kartons for Karly' in memory of their Forever Girl Scout, Karly Little. Karly was a member of Troop 30 when she was taken from them in a car accident 5 years ago this month. To keep the memory of Karly alive they decided to fill shoe boxes with items specially packed for girls age 6-9 years old. Each box was individually packed with a note and hand signed message inside it. The girls enjoyed hosting a multi famly garage sale which raised money to purchase various items to fill the boxes. They purchased hygiene items, hair bows/clips, stuffed animals, socks, crayons and many more fun trinkets. The shoe boxes will be sent to third world countries in hopes that will bring a smile to girls who are less fortunate. The girls packed a total of 283 boxes! Congratulations to Troop #30 and #415 on earning their Silver and Bronze awards and making a difference in the lives of others!
