On July 19, 1947 VFW Post 9545 was granted a Charter by the VFW National Organization. It started out small with the idea of Vets meeting and helping other Vets, and has grown to approximately 366 Members.
Our mission is to help Veterans in need as well as the Community. We sponsor local Teams, Scouting programs and Veterans that need help. Anyone that has served in a qualified theater or operation and has an honorable discharge is eligible to join, and we are reaching out to all Vets including "Gulf War Era" Veterans. If you would like to join, please stop by the Post and pickup an application. If you are a member of a Post in a different town and you want to transfer to ours, we would love to have you. Contact Larry Paveza, Quartermaster @ 815.485.8369 for information.
The former Ladies Auxiliary and Men's Auxiliary have been blended into one and is called "The Auxiliary." The Auxiliary is looking for eligible folks to join and help support the Post. They handle caterings for weddings, parties, etc. Our beautifull hall can axccomodate up to 250 people. Our grove along Hickory creek has hosted many "Outdoor" weddings as well.

As you know, we have a weekly Friday fish fry that is manned by volunteers. It is open to the public so come out and try the best Fish Fry in Will County as featured on WGN's Chicago's Best. http://chicagosbesttv.com/2013... This helps us to reach out to the community so people can understand who we are and raise needed funds for our many projects such as the VFW National Home for children in Michigan which we recently bought a $3,600 Jackhammer and vacuum system for the Maintenance Department. $1000.00 donated to the New Lenox Township Food pantry for their walk-in cooler and freezer.

Sadly this past year we have lost some of our membership and our WWII Veterans and Korean Veterans are getting up in years. We still have one member from the original charter group. WWII Veteran Wade Krohn, and he still attends every monthly meeting.
We do want to thank all the people who support us and The Village of New Lenox for their support as well.
Thank you New Lenox for supporting your Veterans.
