Harry Potter Movie Marathon Coming to Marcus Theatre's Orland Park Cinema

Fans can catch up on the entire epic film series in two days leading up to the premier of "The Deathly Hallows, Part II." In New Lenox, Part I will play at 9 p.m. Thursday, just before the premiere of Part II.

In celebration of the finale of the most successful motion picture franchise of all time, Marcus Theatres in Orland Park will be hosting a marathon of all of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter movies, based on the best-selling books by J.K. Rowling. The screenings of the previous seven films will culminate at the stroke of midnight on July 15 with the hugely anticipated opening of the last film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.”

The price for all eight films is $45. Tickets can be purchased now at the theatre boxoffice or online at http://www.marcustheatres.com. Guests who have already purchased tickets for the midnight showing can upgrade to the marathon for $30. Upgrade tickets are available only at the theatre boxoffice.

The movie marathon will give Harry Potter fans their first-ever opportunity to watch the entire series unfold again on the big screen. Those who have never seen the films can also catch up with the story of the boy wizard who changed movie history.

Marcus Theatres will be showing, in order: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (2001), “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002), “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004), “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005), “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” (2007), “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (2009), “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” (2010) and, finally, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.”

July 13

3:00 p.m.: Sorcerer’s Stone

6:00 p.m.: Chamber of Secrets

9:00 p.m.: Prisoner of Azkaban

July 14

12:00 p.m.: Goblet of Fire

2:55 p.m.: Order of the Phoenix

5:30 p.m.: Half-Blood Prince

8:20 p.m.: Deathly Hallows – Part 1

July 15

12:00 a.m.: Deathly Hallows – Part 2

The “Harry Potter” marathon will be offered at the following theatre locations:

  • Illinois: Gurnee Cinema, Gurnee and Orland Park Cinema, Orland Park

Harry Potter in New Lenox

New Lenox's  isn't carrying a marathon throughout the week, but it will show Deathly Hallows – Part 1 at 9 p.m. Thursday, and that will be followed by Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

And if that's not enough, the is hosting a "Day on Diagon Alley" for people between sixth and 12th grade. The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the library, and it'll feature crafts, games, activities and raffles. The library encourages attendees to dress as a character from the series.
