Hope in Difficult Times

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, 

   his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
   great is your faithfulness.
24 ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul,
   ‘therefore I will hope in him.’ ~ Lamentations 3:22-24

There are days when we hear news that saddens us.  The fact that someone is ill, a family is going through difficult times, or someone has lost someone dear to them can take the wind out of us when we also share a relationship with that person or family.  We want so much to step in and do something to show them that we care and are there for them to lean on. 

God can use us every day to help show His never ending love for others.  He has used those that love Him repeatedly over the centuries to do just that.  Prophets pointed the way back to God when Israel had gone astray.  Moses led the people out of Egypt after 400 years of slavery.  Jesus died on the cross and rose again to conquer death and sin to give us a way to salvation through Him so that we could have eternal life with God.  God has never abandoned us – not even in our darkest hours.  He has always been there for us when we call on His name.  Reach out to Him now.  He is the one in whom we hope and will always help us in our time of need.  In turn, we need to allow Him to work through us to show His love to others every day, so that they may also put their hope in Him. 

Prayer 

Lord,

We know that there are difficult days in our lives as well as good days.  Thank You for always being there for us to lean on in times of trouble.  Use us to help others to find you and put their hope and trust in You also.  Amen.
