Identity Thieves Stealing Identities in New Lenox

Residents alerted police to a series of identity thefts.

Identity thieves recently stole the identities of no less than three New Lenox residents, police said.

An officer first met with a resident of Foxwood Drive about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the police station. The officer was told an “unknown person opened a bank account using the complainant’s identity,” police said.

Then, about an hour and a half later, an officer was sent over to a Bentley Road residence to speak with another victim. The officer was told “that an unknown person opened a credit account using the complainant’s identity,” police said.

About 1 p.m. Friday, an officer met at the station house with yet another victim of identity theft. This time, the officer was told an “unknown person opened an account using the complainant’s identity and purchased electronics online,” police said.
