It's Never Too Late to Mend: Prison Talk Series at the Museum

Come join us for this installment of the "Prison Talk Series" Sunday, Feb. 22nd at 2:00 pm at the Joliet Area Historical Museum

Mike Johnson, Retired Security Guard at the Joliet “Collins Street” Prison will talk about the storied history of the prison, from its inception through its closing in 2002. Mr. Johnson will touch on the 1917 and 1931 Riots, infamous convicts housed at the facility, movies and TV shows filmed there, remodeling in the 40’s & 50’s, manufacturing and education, anecdotes, and even a few personal stories. A Q& A Session will follow the talk, which will last for 60 to 90 minutes.

Guests will be free to tour the Museum prior to and after the presentation, including the special temporary prison exhibit located in the Special Exhibition Gallery on the main floor.
