
NEW LENOX, IL - A 59-year-old man from Joliet remains locked up inside the Will County Adult Detention Facility on a $20,000 bail following a rare theft involving a bulk load of laundry detergent. Reports from the New Lenox Police Department show that at 7:02 p.m. Friday, April 20, Charles Jones was taken away in handcuffs from the Jewel store property in the 400 block of Nelson Road. Officers were sent to the Jewel regarding a retail theft in progress.
"The officer learned that Jones stole approximately $275 worth of laundry detergent from the store," police reports show. "The officer learned Jones was about to load the detergent into a vehicle when he was approached by employees."
Jones took off and ran. But he did not get far.

"Jones was apprehended in the area a short time later," reports state. Jones, who lives in the 400 block of Joliet's Strong Avenue, remained in the Will County jail on Tuesday morning where he is charged with felony retail theft.
