Kurtz Ambulance Sold To American Medical Response: Report
News of the apparent sale was reported Saturday by Radioman911.com

NEW LENOX, IL - Kurtz Ambulance service is being sold to American Medical Response out of Greenwood Village, Colorado, according to a news report published over the weekend. The website, radioman911.com, indicated that AMR has an agreement in place to acquire the New Lenox-based ambulance business as well as Kurtz Paramedic Service, Guardian Critical Care Services, Kurtz Industrial Fire Service and Kurtz Municipal Dispatch. The news report also included comments from Kurtz CEO Tom Vana.
Vana is quoted as saying that the company will continue to operate under its longstanding names of Kurtz Ambulance Service and Kurtz Industrial Fire Service. The report also included comments from Edward Van Home, CEO and president of AMR, saying that "Kurtz Ambulance has a great history of service in the Chicago community and will be a great addition for us as we strengthen our commitment to provide safe, reliable medical transportation and new offerings to the communities we serve."
As of Sunday night, the Kurtz website has not been updated with comments about the apparent sale. The website still proclaims that "Kurtz has been a family owned company since its inception in 1977 when founded by Karl J. Kurtz. Karl's motto has always been 'The difference is we care.' and we proudly carry on his tradition."
