He heals the broken-hearted,
and binds up their wounds. ~ Psalm 147:3
Once again, in the cold of this morning, I wandered back to the coffee machine and looked out the window as my hot cup of "comfort" poured out for me. Looking across the once lush ravine, I saw the remnants of the spring storms in the form of broken and uprooted trees that had been hidden from view by the green leaves of spring and summer. Now that fall has stripped the covering away, the damage can be seen as it truly is.

Many people are hurt and broken-hearted, but put on a good facade when in the company of others. They do not wish for anyone to know their true feelings, they may think that these feelings make them feel inferior to others around them, or they just do not want to make others feel saddened by their plight. God, however, can see all things. He sees through the show of "all is well" and wants to ease the pain and broken spirit within all of us.
In our times of sadness and pain, we need to remember to turn to God and leave all our troubles and burdens for Him to carry so that we can regain the joy and happiness He so much wants us to have in our lives. This healing is not always instantaneous, but a healing process does begin when we give over all of our unwanted feelings of hurt, loss and worry to God. His shoulders are much larger than ours and can carry the load we no longer want to have to deal with alone.

As this Holy Season approaches, let us remember to hand all of our unwanted burdens over to God and allow His gift of Christ light the way to happier, more joy-filled days ahead. Always remember that He gave us His only Son as the ultimate gift of His love for us and it is with this love that He desires to have a close, intimate relationship with each of us. He will always take care of us. We just have to let go of trying to handle everything ourselves and let God "take the wheel."
Prayer
Father in Heaven, I no longer want to have to deal with the undesirable feelings of worry, pain, and loss. Please, take these burdens from me and lead me to the joy, peace and happiness that you want me to have in my life. Help me to lead others to You in this same way, so that they can experience life as You have always wanted them to live it. In Christ's name I pray. Amen.
