NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way Central Senior and New Lenox resident Emily Luming has been chosen as the winner of the $1,000 Assosciated Orthodontists Annual Scholarship program. According to a release, the scholarship program was open to all current and former patients who were graduating high school seniors, received full braces at Associated Orthodontists and had a GPA of at least 3.0.

Luming is a member of the National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta and an Illinois State Scholar, according to a release. She will be attending Augustana College this fall, majoring in communication sciences and disorders. Luming is interested in pursuing a career as a speech pathologist.

A total of five winners received a $1,000 scholarship to be applied directly to tuition at a
college, university, vocational training or technical school. According to a release, applications were reviewed by a panel at Associated Orthodontists, and were chosen based on submitted essays, academic achievements, and participation in school and community activities.
