Lincoln-Way Central, West Students Participate In Essay Contest

The winners will be honored at a banquet Sunday, Jan. 19 at the New Lenox VFW.

NEW LENOX, IL — Students from Lincoln-Way Central and West were given the opportunity to participate in the VFW's Voice of Democracy essay contest. The district said collected essays were given to the members of the New Lenox VFW for consideration, and nine winners from Lincoln-Way Central and three from Lincoln-Way West were chosen.

This year's topic was: “What Makes America Great?” The district said the winners will be honored at a banquet Sunday, Jan. 19 at the New Lenox VFW. At the banquet, the VFW will announce which local student will be moving on to the next level of the essay contest.

Winners from Lincoln-Way Central include: Arwen Rolinitis, Emma Troy, Emma McCarthy, Maggie Tinman, Elise Kennedy, Emma DuBois, Danny Kahl, Oscar Valencia and Kaitlyn Bittner.
