Lincoln-Way East, West Hosting Youth Baseball Coaches Clinics

Two Lincoln-Way schools will offer free baseball coaching clinics this weekend and next.

The Lincoln-Way West High School baseball coaching staff will host its annual Youth Baseball Coaches’ Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room B225-226 and the Field house at West, New Lenox.

The L-W West baseball coaching staff will be covering the following topics: practice planning, pitching, hitting drills, catching fundamentals, infield & outfield drills, and more. Classroom breakout sessions on a variety of topics for Q & A will also be included.

“There is no cost to this clinic, but we would like participants to register,” stated Jake Zajc, head baseball coach and assistant athletic director for West.

Lincoln-Way West baseball hats, sweatshirts & t-shirts will be on sale at the clinic for those who are interested.

The following weekend, the Lincoln-Way East High School baseball coaching staff will host its clinic on Saturday, Feb. 28 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln-Way East Field house, Frankfort.

The L-W East baseball coaching staff will cover the following topics: drills, organization, hitting, pitching, infield & outfield drills, catching and base-running.

There is no charge for this interactive clinic focused on baseball fundamentals.

“Coaching clinics are about getting excited for the season. Coaches can gain a few tips on how to improve their team’s preparation, organization and skill level. I have attended clinics every year and have incorporated new ideas into the baseball program at East. I hope area coaches will say the same after attending this clinic,” stated Paul Babcock, head baseball coach for East.
