Lincoln-Way Welding Students Auction BBQ Smoker
The smoker has an estimated retail value of $1,800 to $2,400, and it will be auctioned at the welding contest March 12.
NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way welding students have welded their own authentic Texas Pit Smoker and are planning to auction it, the district said. The smoker has an estimated retail value of $1,800 to $2,400, and it will be auctioned at the welding contest March 12.
The district said the contest is open to any welding student currently enrolled in welding at Lincoln-Way and will take place at 4:30 p.m. March 12 at Lincoln-Way Central. Proceeds from the auction will help students compete in SKILLS USA at the state level.
The annual welding contest better prepares students for future contests and for competing in the working world upon graduation, according to the district. Students will go head-to-head completing a variety of welds and a written test. There are two categories of competition - Welding 1 and Welding 2/3, and prizes for first through fifth places.
