Lincoln-Way West Bowler Named All-American

Eric Ullian was selected for the 2016-2017 Dexter/United States Bowling Congress High School All-American Team.

NEW LENOX, IL -- A recent Lincoln-Way West High School senior was named to an All-American bowling team for his accomplishments in the sport and academics. Eric Ullian was one of just 10 student-athletes selected to the 2016-2017 Dexter/United States Bowling Congress High School All-American Team, according to a news release from Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210.

Ullian won an IHSA sectional title in bowling this year and became the first individual bowler o qualify for state in Lincoln-Way West history. Academically, he was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and a VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship recipient. He has also worked closely with Feed My Starving Children in an effort to help end starvation in children throughout the world.

“Making school history to me makes me extremely happy because bowling can continue to be recognized more,” he said.

To be selected for the All-American squad, student-athletes needed to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit their bowling accomplishments, letter of recommendation and 500-word essay to a panel.

As a recipient, Ullian received a $1,000 scholarship. He plans to attend Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, where he will be a member of the bowling team.

“Bowling helped make my decision for college because I knew I definitely wanted to go to a school that had a bowling team,” he said.
