The film "is a faith based feature length film about a woman of God named Jo who seemingly has it all until one day Satan comes before God and requests permission to test Jo’s faith," according to a release on the movie. "Jo is confronted with loneliness, betrayal, death and the burden of sharing her faith with a dying childhood friend who considers Jo’s faith to be nothing more than a crutch. The more Jo begins to share her faith with her friend, the more she pushes her away and begins to question the foundation of her own beliefs."

If Podowski reaches his goal through Kickstarter, he plans to start shooting the film this spring and anticipated a release date the following year.

Strangely Dim "will take advantage of local Chicagoland talent as well as a veteran Hollywood actress, Leslie Easterbrook," the release said. "Leslie, most notably known for her role as the blonde police officer in the Police Academy movie series, has over 35 feature films and 300 television episodes to her credit."

After reading the script for Strangely Dim, Easterbrook, according to the release, said, “It's terrific! I would love to play Gloria! If the part's still available, sign me up. Complex, original, beautifully written, not preachy, accessible, uplifting, moving—a few of my reasons for liking your script and wanting to be a part of your movie.”
