Locked Out & Locked In: Hoosier Needs Help Getting Into Car But Not Into Custody

An Indiana man locked out of his car turned out to be wanted, police said.

A New Lenox cop went to help an Indiana man who had locked himself out of his car and then arrested him when he discovered he had a warrant.

John Blankenberger, 23, of St. John was arrested about 7 p.m. Sunday on Coventry Road near Lambeth Lane.

An officer was sent over to Coventry to help a man who was locked out of his car, police said.

“While assisting Blankenberger get back into his vehicle the officer discovered that Blankenberger had a warrant for his arrest,” police said.

Court records showed Blankenberger was wanted on traffic charges in DuPage County. He was released after posting bond.
