LW D210 Hires New Head Coaches: First-Ever Girls Flag Football Teams, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Soccer

Lincoln-Way District 210 on Friday announced a slate of new head coaches for several sports.

NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way District 210 on Friday announced a lineup of new head coaches set to lead programs in the spring and fall athletic seasons, including three selected to lead the district's inaugural girls flag football teams.

Girls Flag Football

During the January Board of Education meeting, the board approved the creation of a girls flag football team at each high school beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. As it is one of the fastest growing high school sports in the country, Lincoln-Way officials said the district is excited to offer this opportunity to its student-athletes. The district has hired its head coaches for the inaugural season.

Lincoln-Way Central: Sarah Willis
Sarah Willis brings eight years of flag football playing experience from both high school and North Central College. Her strong understanding of the game and enthusiasm for building new programs make her an excellent leader for Lincoln-Way Central’s newest team.

Lincoln-Way East: Blake Hammond
A 2008 graduate of Lincoln-Way East, Blake Hammond returns with playing experience at Western Michigan University and previous high school coaching experience. His passion and background will help guide the Griffins through their inaugural season.

Lincoln-Way West: Dominic DeLuca
Dominic DeLuca, a four-year starter at the University of St. Francis and longtime head girls track and field coach at Lincoln-Way West, brings extensive coaching expertise to the new program. He is excited to help expand athletic opportunities for female student-athletes.

New Boys Tennis Head Coach at West

Lincoln-Way West has named John Cupp as the new head boys tennis coach. Cupp, who currently leads the girls tennis program, brings valuable experience and familiarity with the team.

He succeeds Tim Daly, who recently retired after years of dedicated service. The district thanked Daly for his commitment and contributions and looks forward to continued success under Coach Cupp’s leadership.

New Head Coach for Co-Op Girls Lacrosse

Amy Bechstein has been hired as the new head coach for the district’s co-op girls lacrosse team. Bechstein, an elementary physical education teacher, emphasizes fundamentals, skill development, and lifelong healthy habits in her coaching approach.

She is committed to fostering a program centered on accountability, teamwork, and growth. With her background as a multi-sport athlete and educator, she brings energy and structure to this growing program and is excited for the season ahead.
