Man Accused Of Home Repair Fraud Can't Make $325,000 Bail

Robert Jabaay of New Lenox has been in custody since Sept. 7. A fugitive warrant was issued in June.

Three months after a fugitive of justice warrant was sought for Robert Jabaay of New Lenox, his home repair fraud case is proceeding at the Will County Courthouse. Jabaay, 41, who lives in the 600 block of Oxford Court, faces one felony charge of aggravated home repair fraud and a second felony charge of home repair fraud. The Frankfort Police Department investigated the case that resulted in the pair of felony charges. Jabaay was self-employed in New Lenox and ran Evolution Flooring LLC, court records state.

Jabaay is accused of entering into a $17,022 written contract back in February to repair a Frankfort couple's home in the 21400 block of Brittany Drive. "In doing so ... the defendant would replace the flooring inside the residence ... which the defendant did not intend to perform and the victim is over 60 years of age," the complaint reads. The second charge indicates Jabaay signed another written contract, also in February, to repair the flooring at another Frankfort home in the very same block of Brittany Drive. The amount of money involved in the second contract was about $2,260, court records show.

Will County Jail logs show that Jabaay was apprehended on September 7 on the two felony charges arising from Frankfort. Because his bond is set at $325,000, Jabaay must come up with $32,500 cash, or 10 percent, to get out of jail while his criminal charges are pending.
