Manhattan Man Wants to Know Names of Jail Guards He Says Beat Him
He wants to know their names so he can sue them, according to a court filing.

A Manhattan man wants to know the names of jail guards he says beat him, according to a petition filed in Will County court.
Jeffrey Palmer, 31, was arrested and jailed in November 2013, the petition said. Jail records show he was picked up for allegedly operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disregarding a stop sign. Charges of battery and resisting police were tacked on when he allegedly tensed his arms when a deputy tried to handcuff him and then kicked the deputy.
The battery and insurance charges were later dropped but Palmer pleaded guilty to resisting, according to court records.

Palmer was “beaten by unknown members of the (jail’s) emergency response team,” the petition said, and he needs to have them identified “in order to pursue his claim” with a civil rights lawsuit.
