Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD Announces October Program - Medicare Basics

The Manhattan-New Lenox TRIAD for seniors would like to invite senior citizens (age 50 and up) from the area to attend their monthly meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 1:30pm, at the New Lenox Police Station located at 701 West Haven in New Lenox.

Our meeting  this month will be on Medicare Basics.  Loretto, Cowhig, Community Planner,  from the Agency on Aging, will be our speaker for October.  Loretto will be speaking on Medicare.

Loretto will also speak about:

·         Loretto will be available for your questions.

There seems to be a lot of confusion with the senior community and Medicare.  Federal health officials are trying to get the message out to older consumers that Medicare benefits are not changing under the Affordable Care  Act.  Medicare beneficiaries don't have to do anything differently and will continue to go to Medicare.gov to sign up for plans  Medicare open enrollment starts Oct. 15 and closes Dec. 7.

TRIAD would also like to announce that Ms. Cowhig will be back in the New Lenox Community on November 7th at 6:30pm  to present a 90 minute program on Medicare Basics at the New Lenox VFW, 323 Old Hickory Road  in New Lenox.  This program  is a much  longer  presentation and  more comprehensive one.  The program will be held in the evening hours so that people who are working during daytime hours may be able to attend.

A major purpose of TRIAD is to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and health and safety educational programs for seniors in our community.  If you have any questions, please contact Kathie Johnson at New Lenox Township Offices , 815-485-6431.  There is no registration needed or membership needed to attend this or any of the TRIAD meetings.  These meetings are for all senior citizens in and around our community.  Please join us.
