Marching Knights Take First Place in Stagg Jamboree
Lincoln-Way Central's marching band kicked off its new season with a stellar performance Saturday, Sept. 13.

The award-winning Lincoln-Way Central Marching Knights began their competitive season this past Saturday, September 13, with a very successful performance in the Stagg Marching Band Jamboree.
The Marching Knights finished first place in the Class AA category and third place overall.
In addition the 80-member strong Marching Knights took home awards for Best Visual, Best Music, Best Auxiliary and Best Percussion.

“What a fantastic start to the season and a new era for the Marching Knights. The Marching Knights performance Saturday was the culmination of hard work and progress, and I was excited to be there to witness it and support the students. I am very thankful for our incredible chaperones; the parent attendance and support was absolutely wonderful,” stated Chris Mroczek, Director of Bands for Central.
The Stagg Marching Band Jamboree hosted 20 bands in three categories, class A, class AA, and class AAA. The Jamboree was held at A.A. Stagg High School in Palos Hills. The overall Grand Champion was Marion Catholic High School.

The Marching Knights 2014 drum majors are seniors Samantha Steagerman, from Manhattan, and Richard A. Huish from New Lenox.
The Marching Knights new field show for the 2014 competition is entitled, “Joy In All Things.” The two pieces of music are “Joy In All Things” by Brian Balmages and “With Heart and Voice” by David Gillingham.
“I am definitely looking forward to the remainder of what promises to be a rewarding season,” added Mroczek.
The Marching Knights also perform their competitive show during half time at each home football game.
