Raatjes said he believes the most pressing issue facing the District 122 board is finanical stability.
"This is the challenge of most Boards of Education throughout Illinois. Staying on top of the budget in the midst of funding changes from the state is an ongoing issue that requires diligence and focused attention," he said. "This task necessitates open communication with the public and transparency as the district reacts to changes in revenues and costs while prioritizing students. The district has an obligation to stay on top of capital improvements, maintain up-to-date technology, and employ excellent teachers. This obligation must be met within a budget that maintains a healthy funding balance."
