Mixology event to support Joliet Montessori School Financial Aid Fund

All are invited to an evening of fun cocktails and mixology demonstrations on May 18 in Lockport; all proceeds to benefit JMS students

Joliet Montessori School (JMS) has announced that they will be hosting this year’s Financial Aid Fundraiser at the Public Landing Restaurant and Banquet Center in downtown Lockport the evening of Thursday, May 18.

Open to JMS families and anyone who enjoys creative libations, Montessori Mixology will offer guests an evening of cocktails, wines, food and demonstrations by an expert mixologist. There will also be a silent auction for a number of unique gift baskets.

Dawn Polacek, a JMS parent and member of the JMS board since 2009, led the organization of the event. “Cocktail parties are all the rage right now, so we wanted to tap into that energy,” Dawn said. “Every year, this is a headliner event. It’s a chance for us to celebrate what JMS stands for, and help deserving kids attend JMS in the years to come.”

Donna Martin, Interim Head of School for JMS, knows how important the JMS Financial Aid Fund is. “Since 2014, the fund has awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships to 45 JMS students,” she said. “That’s a direct tribute to the generosity of our parents, donors, founding families and community members. Thanks to them, we can share Montessori’s proven benefits with children of all ages and all backgrounds.”

Montessori Mixology will take place at the Public Landing Restaurant and Banquet Center, 200 W. 8th Street in Lockport, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. JMS is a 501(c)(3) educational organization and all donations are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
