Mystery Thief Steals Things From Laraway Road Jewel

A mystery thief stole things from the Laraway Road Jewel and the New Lenox police won’t say anything about who is behind the crime—or even what was taken.

An officer was sent to the Jewel about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 to investigate a theft and met with someone there, according to police.

This person told the officer a “subject removed merchandise from the store without paying for the items,” police said.

The New Lenox police failed to respond to an email request for more information on the “subject” and the “merchandise” he or she “removed … from the store” without paying for it.

Patch has since submitted a formal request for the police report on the matter, asking for its release under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
