New Grocery Store, Restaurant, Retail Could Come To Route 30 In New Lenox
Village officials have tapped an engineering firm to look into a possible development at U.S. 30 and Vancina Lane.

NEW LENOX, IL — The northwest corner of U.S. Route 30 and Vancina Lane in New Lenox could be developed for the first time in more than 20 years if prospective businesses move forward after evaluation assessments are made. The village opted on Monday to approve a contract with SpaceCo Inc. for preliminary engineering, site planning and traffic evaluation at the site, according to a report from The Herald-News.
The 9.5-acre lot at the only undeveloped corner of the intersection could be home to a new grocery store, restaurant and retail shops. The interested parties, all of which have requested anonymity, requested assessments be made to see if the area will work for their businesses.
While the names of the businesses that are interested aren't being released yet, village officials have indicated that the grocery store is a local chain and would take up 65,000 square feet of the property, the retail building would take up 15,000 square feet and the restaurant 12,350 square feet.
