New Lenox American Legion Blood Drive Still Needs Donors On Thursday

American Legion Post 1977 is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, May 29th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Appointment times are still available.

The Red Cross Blood Drive returns to American Legion Post 1977 on Thursday, May 29th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The American Legion partnered with the Red Cross last fall when people in the community were looking for ways to donate blood after Hurricane Helene devasted communities in several states. The Post scheduled a series of donation dates with the intent of being a regularly scheduled donation site. Hosting the community blood drives are contingent on filling the donation schedule with donors for the collection team. An individual can donate blood every 56 days and up to 6 times a year.

Donors for the Power Red program are especially needed. A Power Red donation takes a little longer than a regular donation but collects two units of red blood cells. Donors for this program are eligible to donate up to 4 time a year or every 112 days.

Currently there are several open slots for donors to sign up online at Schedule a Blood, Platelet or Plasma Donation | American Red Cross . Walk in donors are accepted but are appoints are recommended to save your time.
