New Lenox Approves Pizza King Parking Plan
A special parking plan had to be approved since the restaurant will create a demand for more parking to be provided.
NEW LENOX, IL — A town favorite is one step closer to returning. At its April 22 meeting, the village approved a special parking plan for Pizza King, 123 W. Maple St. The restaurant, which had been open in New Lenox for decades, has been temporarily closed since August 2018.
New owners Alan and Stephanie Gendusa have renovated the restaurant and added a dining room component with 3 or 4 tables for people to sit down after they place their order and eat some pizza.
A special parking plan had to be approved since the restaurant will create a demand for more parking to be provided. Pizza King must meet conditions like restriping and repairing the parking lot, as well as adding another handicap parking spot.

Owner Alan Gendusa did ask that the board modify one of the requirements, which had been that the restaurant not open until 4 p.m. since the other tenants who use the lot would mostly be closed by then. Gendusa asked that the restaurant be allowed to open at noon so they could offer lunch.
The board approved allowing the business to open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, but not during the week.
